This summer of 2025, I explored the tangled rela9onship between technology, landscape, and sound.

Through ceramics, a metal sculpture, paintings, and wall-based sculptures, I had been tracing how e-waste weaves itself into the ground, and how the minerals we extract from the earth return to us as the devices we hold in our hands. Alongside this material cycle, I’ve been listening to the ways telecommunication hums, crackles, and pulses through cities like Lisbon. An invisible network of sound.

The vertebra of the axis goes all the way up to the throat and ears. Traversing all the way down the body. Real napkins find sticky fluid wounds. It comes out of the sinuses. Green mixture. The body needs separation from toxic fumes it has been holding onto.

Intricacies – details in specific objects, sights. Signals --- antenna’s, communication through thin spines containing different metallic parts.

Air communication. Fast invisible movement. Was thinking of how certain flows of imaginations could cross over one another. A dream from one, a memory for the receiver. A new dream.

Accumulation – muscle memory here. Found an object, containing the place surrounding it. Gathering, amassing into a heap ---- piles of stones clashing, laying, sitting thinking of taking but what for. Copy of, a thought. Recollecting an echo of the sea. Something unrecorded.

Signalling; various lights hovering through the air and blinking on and off. Telling boats and airplanes which side of the axis to take part in next.

Axis - A specific line (often a directed line) that plays an important role in some contexts. In particular:

All ceramic tiles are about 10 cm x 10 cm
